Building Better Credit with Bad Credit Auto Loans

Bad credit auto loans are becoming more popular as more people experience credit issues due to poor management early in his or her life, divorce, job loss. The consequence of these credit issues is usually bankruptcy or a low credit rating, making it difficult to get a normal loan with a low interest rate. These bad credit car loans promise to help build up one's credit and improve credit rating by proving that one is able to make payments on time and in full. This is usually one of the best methods to build credit after bankruptcy and for cleaning up credit for home loans.

These bad credit loans are typically for pre-owned vehicles and have a higher interest rate than the good credit auto loans. This increase in interest is to protect the bank incase one fails to pay the loan back. This should also encourage the lendee to pay the loan back faster to decrease the amount that is paid in interest. Pre-owned cars are used because the market value on these cars is less than a new car. This is not to say that a good automobile cannot be purchased with poor credit, it simply means that the lending facilities are more likely to lend for a used car and cut losses if the loan is not paid. Very good automobiles can be purchased and often are at the larger car dealerships. There are many dealerships that offer this service, but as with all used cars, the vehicle should be evaluated by a mechanic before purchase. There may be lemon laws, but not every dealership is law abiding.

Most of the bad credit auto loans allow one to pay more than the specified amount for a faster pay off. Not all auto loans allow for this though. Be sure to review the payment contract ahead of time to see if this is an option. Also evaluate this loan to be sure it is the right loan for you. There are some loans in which the final payment is the price of the vehicle at the time of the last payment. This can cause a lack of payment to show on one's credit score. This loan is capable of repairing one's credit, if the loan is paid off in full on time. If this is not the case, the loan can hurt one's credit further. Be sure that the payments are affordable. Do not rely on any overtime to make the payments. Though one's overtime may appear constant, it should never be relied upon to make ends meet. If this is the case now, consider evaluating what expenses can be cut or decreased to eliminate the need for overtime. Overtime can be terminated at any time. This then would make it so that the payment is not made.
