How to Repair Credit after Bankruptcy

There are no quick fixes when repairing credit after bankruptcy. Fixing one’s credit after a bankruptcy requires time, patience, and determination. It requires proper management of bad credit auto loans, credit cards for bad credit, utilities, and a checking account. It requires proving to the credit bureau and to others that the past lessons have been learned and that previous mistakes will not be repeated.

A bankruptcy is declared when one can no longer handle his or her debts and wishes to annual the debt without paying it off. This bankruptcy, though, it gets rid of the debt can cause significant damage to one’s credit. A bankruptcy can be clearly seen on all credit reports and tells lenders that more than simply defaulting has occurred. No actions can be taken against the debtor can be taken once bankruptcy has occurred and the money is gone with no method of recovery.

Bad credit car loans can assist those with the rebuilding of poor credit caused by a bankruptcy. This loan is typically a high interest loan that is for a pre-owned vehicle. This high interest loan is designed to allow one to pay over the amount due, hence lowing the length of the loan. This loan can assist in repairing one’s credit by showing that borrowed funds can and will be repaid in full and on time.

Credit cards for bad credit can be very risky for those attempting to correct his or her credit. These credit cards typically have a high interest rate, which raises the price of the purchased item. There is also the payment issue with these credit cards. Most credit card companies only pick up their mail on certain days. This means though the payment may have arrived in the mailbox on time, because it was processed later than the payment date, the payment is declared late. This can result in fines and still higher interest rates. Though keeping a small balance on a credit card can significantly increase one’s credit rate, the damaging effects of a single late or non-payment is equally as great.

Utilities are a great way to help build credit. Everyone needs basic utilities and most utilities report to the credit bureau. These utilities can also assist one in procuring a loan. Most lenders want to see a utility bill to see that one lives where specified and that the bill is up to date.

No bouncing check seems obvious, but for many it is a way of life to “kite” checks. This dangerous practice can do serious damage to one’s credit if the check bounces. A bounced check can also accrue various charges from the bank and from the location that it was issued to. It simply is not worth the risk.
